La Universala Arbo, Kajto's 8th album.
In the spring of 2019, Nanne and Ankie presented Kajto's 8th album, La Universala Arbo (The Universal Tree). On the album there are 14 new songs with Esperanto texts. As usual on Kajto's albums, the variety of the songs is great: melancholic songs are followed by gay, humorous songs; spritely songs alternate with slow, emotional songs.
Ankie and Nanne accompany their singing with various instruments such as guitar, banjo, cittern, accordion, Calabash, concertina, double bass, synthesizer and shawm.
La Universala Arbo is a new jewel in the Kajto repertoire.
La Universala Arbo is the new albums's title song.
The text was originally written in English by the Australian author Michael J. Roads, especially for Nanne and Ankie, and Nanne composed the melody. For many years the song has been a favorite in their repertoire. A few years ago, the Israeli poet Amir Naor proposed adapting the text in Esperanto, and he was really successful in doing so.
The text is a miracle.
Already in Kajto's beginning, the group searched for texts for their songs also in poem collections by poets from different countries. Now also, on the new album, there are a few texts from poem collections. One of these is Vintra Fabelo (A Winter's Fable), a light-hearted love poem by the Russian poet Nikolai Hohlov. Nanne composed the music, and here we are... a joyous song!
