Morice Benin
Dear friends,
This is extremely sad news sent today by Gilbert Stammbach...
Yesterday, January 19, 2021, Morice Benin passed away suddenly.
It is a great sorrow for us. He was a friend and a visionary.
A great man, a role model who has guided us for over 40 years.
His fury against the excesses and debauchery of the world of money, against the damage to our natural environment by jeopardizing our future, but also the depth of his poetry, his faith in love, in humanity, the simplicity and warmth of his friendship...: we will miss all of this. He was a great French songwriter, not well known enough.
Gilbert had the opportunity to speak to him again the day before Morice passed away. Everything was fine; he was true to himself.
He remained hopeful for our future despite the current darkness.
Now, he was reaching for the stars.
Best friends Gilbert Stammbach and Floréal Martorell
"It will certainly kill you.
Death, death...
But what it can't kill
is the mark you'll leave behind."
(Morice Bénin "Infiniment" / "Infiniment")
Morice was scheduled to come to Toulouse to record vocals with his son for the Esperanto version of the song "Esperanto ou tard "....
We are truly sorry...
The attendees of the World Congress of Esparanto in Lille in 2015 were able to enjoy one of his all-too-rare Esperanto concerts...
Morice will forever remain in our hearts and in our Esperanto culture through the songs he performed with the help and encouragement of Gilbert Stammbach
(Album "In-spir'")
A sincere and infinite thank you, Morice!
