Esperantoroko

EUROKKA  was founded in 1988 and became the specialist association of  TEJO for contemporary music in 1991 and has since then also been included in the list of specialist associations in the UEA directory.

EUROKKA's scope of activity is global, aiming to develop and disseminate within the Esperanto movement but also beyond it, the musical culture in Esperanto, artistes and the groups who sing in Esperanto.

EUROKKA plays the role of coordinator and mediator (like a collective of artists) of the Esperanto music scene: rock and roll, pop music, folk, jazz rock, afro rock, reggae, ska, hip hop, techno, underground music, metal, etc... even lyrical music!
But also takes care of:

  • Coordination of the musicians in the Vinilkosmo studios in Donneville.
  • Coordination of a network of information and cultural exchanges (contact lists/directories of artists and organizers).
  • Promotion and development of artists and groups singing in Esperanto, through help, advice, mediation and communication.
  • Stimulation to increase the quality, professionalism and number of artists and groups singing in Esperanto.
  • Encourage Esperanto-friendly artists to start singing in Esperanto in new musical projects.
  • Help, advice, co-organization, mediation of artists and programming of performances by artists and groups singing in Esperanto in the framework of Esperanto meetings, congresses and festivals, such as UK, IJK, KEF, EOLA, FESTO, IS, IF, IJS, IJF, SAT and SAT-Amikaro Congress, etc.

    KAFE

    FESTO

  • Organization/co-organization of KAFE festival in 2000 in Toulouse with EKC and the Esperanto Federation Midi-Pyrénées, of FESTO in Donneville in 2010 with JEFO and of LIBERTO FEST' 2022 and 2024 in Donneville.
  • Collaboration with international and local radio stations for many years (for example, production of radio programs in Esperanto broadcasting Esperanto music on local stations, such as Canal Sud, Radio FMR and Radio Occitània in Toulouse).
  • Presentation of Esperanto musical culture, its history and evolution, through conferences, seminars, information meetings on stands, Esperanto music quizzes, etc.
  • Training in show organisation, sound technology and music production as part of Grundwig and Erasmus+ projects or for “Young Volunteers”.
  • Disc jockeying with "Espoteko" (Esperanto Discotheque) on the occasion of international festivals or local meetings (KEF, IF, IJK, Arkones, Festo, Zamenhof-Festo, etc.)
  • Organization and co-organization of tours for Esperanto artists (we have already done this for: Kajto, Jacques Yvart, Solotronik, JoMo, Ale Kosabela, etc.).

EUROKKA founded the independent production and distribution label  VINILKOSMO *Esperanto-Muzik-Prod.* and the Esperanto music fanzine ROK-gazet'  in 1990.

In January 1999 VINILKOSMO had to professionalize and become independent from EUROKKA for legal and administrative reasons, but nevertheless remains interactively connected with the activity of EUROKKA. Since then ROK-gazet' was also published by Vinilkosmo but remained the organ of EUROKKA.
Currently Rok-gazet' has been replaced by the Vinilkosmo Newsletter and this Blog.

From April 2003, a collaboration was established with David-Emil to create a complete Database for Esperanto culture.  The first step was the creation of the music section: artists and organizers as well as other services with the aim of facilitating the organization of musical events in Esperanto and contacts between artists and organizers of the Esperanto movement. But two years later the project has been put on hold due to lack of resources...
However, EUROKKA does not lose hope of realizing it one day with the help of new collaborating members who will be interested in the subject and to relaunch it.
