Kris Fredi (Chris-F PENDEKI), born PENDEKI MUMBERE FREDDY, was born on December 24th, 1999 in Butembo, North Kivu province, in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Son of Mr. MUMBERE DANI and Mrs. SUZANA KAVIRA, Chris-F is a Congolese singer, dancer, songwriter and interpreter, active between Goma and Kirumba. His talents have earned him several nicknames such as The Voice Killer, The Supernova, Afolkino, Dancema.
He plays musical styles such as Afro-folk, Afrobeat, Afropop and even Ndombolo. In 2018, Chris-F signed a contract with the record label ONE TARGET MEDIA.
In his appearances on local television channels, he has stated that he was influenced by musicians such as Innoss-B, Fally Ipupa, Sidiki Diabaté, Diamond Platnumz and the music group Magic System.
He started as a dancer in various street groups in his hometown, then moved to Goma to work with the dance group Black Dance. He participated in dance competitions such as SKIF, Festival AMANI 2016, and Festival NANI BINGWA (1st edition). He then left Goma and went to Kirumba to found his own dance group called SUPER CREW in 2017. Inspired to sing and progress in his career, and motivated by Georges Syayuwe, Moïse Nguramo and his father Mumberto Badjo, Chris-F began to interpret works by national and international artists. He participated in a training course in music, spoken art and visual art organized by Maison One Target Media, which was awarded with a certificate.
He became famous after the release of his song RUDI SHULE, in collaboration with Adam KATSIVIRA, under the sponsorship of Belden KANAKAKE, CEO of ONE TARGET MEDIA.
He confirmed his identity with the single TULIBAGHUMA (“All the same for the unity of Africa”), sponsored by Papa SADIKI, creating his own musical style AFRO-FOLK, produced by SAMSKY Filmz. Already successful in various cities in North Kivu, he was called by his manager for the second production after TULIBAGHUMA, entitled MWANZE, produced by CROSBY M, which contributed to his success in the North Kivu province.
Kris Fredi began learning Esperanto in December 2023 at the Goma Esperanto Club (GEK and KJBL). For this, Kris is very grateful to his teachers, Alphonse Kamango Waseka, Marcelin Luheka, Jean de Dieu Kikako, and others.
Before learning Esperanto, a friend of Kris’s, Knelcy, told him about Esperanto and its greatness. Kris gradually discovered that Esperanto is the most beautiful language in the world, thanks to Esperanto’s inner idea of friendship and cooperation.
Since then, Kris has been involved in the Esperanto movement.
Kris sang his songs in Swahili before learning Esperanto, but a friend, Eric Bagheni, introduced him to Esperanto-speaking artists and musicians such as JoMo, Joël Muhire, Klarisa, Moses Byamungu, and others.
Since then, Kris has started singing in Esperanto, while continuing to learn the language, in order to contribute, through his Esperanto music to the esperanto culture, the teaching of Esperanto in his country and its spread throughout the world.
Kris has already collaborated with other musicians in Congo; with Knelcy Kendakenda he recorded three songs. He collaborated with Joel Muhire during his stay at the World Esperanto Congress in Tanzania and at the KJBL in Goma.
Kris Fredi now invites you to discover his first album in Esperanto, entitled La amo protektas nin.
